Limited Exhibition: Mack Art Foundation x A Day’s March presents Rugiyatou Ylva Jallow
Rugiyatou Ylva Jallow, Förenade i Ängens Ande (2026)
In conjunction with Stockholm Art Week 2026, A Day's March and Mack Art Foundation present a hand-painted capsule collection by artist Rugiyatou Ylva Jallow. The collection consists of unique garments and accessories, where Jallow's painterly expression – through color, layers, and thread – is translated onto textiles, exploring themes of identity, belonging, and cultural duality.
By working directly on the garments, Jallow creates pieces that exist in the space between art objects and clothing. Thread, a recurring element in her practice, serves as a visual metaphor for connection and togetherness.
Following last year's collaboration with artist Mark Frygell, A Day's March and Mack Art Foundation continue their exploration of the intersection between art and garment – where the line between what is art and what becomes art often depends on the viewer. Within this shift, art also becomes more accessible, encountered in everyday life rather than confined to a singular space.
The project will be presented exclusively at A Day's March, Kungsgatan 3, during Stockholm Art Week.
Reduced Admissions: &Milles Diana Orving - Celestial Bodies
Photo: Erik Lefvander
Exclusive to Stockholm Art Week, visitors are offered reduced admission during the weekend at Millesgården. Use code SAW26 when you book tour ticket online at millesgarden.se. The ticket gives you access to the whole of the museum, including the sculpture park, the artists' home and the exhibitions.
In the exhibition Celestial Bodies, Diana Orving’s textile sculptures fill the Artist’s Home of Millesgården, where they come into contact with Carl Milles’s world of mythology and astronomy. In the Large Studio – where Milles’s figures seek to hover between heaven and earth – a dialogue opens up between different materials and expressions, between past and present. Just as Milles created works that reach for the sky, Orving’s sculptures occupy the room with a buoyancy that seems to defy gravity. Orving sews textile layers of silk, linen and abaca– a fibre from a banana plant – into organic shapes that evoke clouds, wind and plants in motion – or birds in flight. The title Celestial Bodies refers to Milles’s lifelong fascination with winged creatures in myth and nature, and to the idea of art that strives upwards, toward the sky and heavens. Here, two artistic practices meet in the cosmic and the human – celestial bodies in transformation and metamorphosis, serving both as stars and as symbols of humanity’s desire to transcend boundaries.
&Milles is a new exhibition series that places the total work of art Millesgården – bequeathed to the Swedish people in 1936 – in active dialogue with the present. Contemporary artists are invited to create site-specific installations in relation to the unique environment, where the Artist’s Home and the surrounding sculpture park can also serve as sources of inspiration. Millesgården’s ambition and intention is to remain a place for artistic exploration and innovation.
Pop Up Film Exhibition with Konsthall 16 - We dive, we float, we sink, we sing, we turn upwards
Alexandra Larsson Jacobson och Mira Eklund, We dive, we float, we sink, we sing, we turn upwards, (still), 2026.
We dive, we float, we sink, we sing, we turn upwards – Revisited
Like the exhibitions at Konsthall 16, which focus on the two great interests of founder Tore A Jonasson (1916–2015), art and sports, Countess Wilhelmina von Hallwyl (1844–1930) was an avid art collector and she also showed an early interest in the importance of daily exercise and a healthy diet. Long before her time, she furnished a private "gym" in the palace, known as the gymnastics room.
When Alexandra Larsson Jacobson exhibited at Konsthall 16 a couple of years ago, a performance was presented in conjunction with her exhibition during Stockholm Art Week. It took place on the rooftop pool of the Clarion Hotel Sign, in the middle of Stockholm in brilliant sunshine with a fantastic view of Kungsholmen. At that time, only a limited number of spectators had the opportunity to see it live, but now the opportunity to experience the work returns through a new film based on the same performance.
In collaboration with Konstsim Kreativ, and exploring the body as a sculpture in motion, Alexandra Larsson Jacobson has created a choreography set to Mira Eklund’s specially composed sound and music, in a performance featuring synchronised swimmers interacting with Larsson’s floating sculptures. Just as a human body consists of several parts, the swimmers use their bodies to make kaleidoscopic and mirroring formations that create a new, collective body.
Alexandra Larsson Jacobsson and Mira Eklund: We dive, we float, we sink, we sing, we turn upwards, 2026, video, appr. 12 min. The pop-up exhibition runs April 21-26 and follows Hallwylska’s opening hours. Tuesday 12–16, Wednesday 12–19, Thursday–Friday 12–16, Saturday–Sunday 11–17.
Free entrance, the film is screened in the gateway.
Konsthall 16 is a non-commercial art gallery. It’s the result of a collaboration between Tore A Jonasson’s foundation and Riksidrottsmuseum (the National Sports Museum). The purpose of the foundation is to present temporary exhibitions of contemporary art, to show selected works from the collection and to annually acquire sports-related art and award a number of grants to artists and sports practitioners.

Drawing on research from diverse fields such as psychology, neuroaesthetics, economics, art history, and philosophy, the authors describe the concrete impact that art and culture have on our brains, in small communities, in companies, for children and the elderly, and within education, healthcare, and social care. They also explore the difference between the intrinsic values of art and its effects, and how this fundamentally shapes the way we should approach the measurement of art and culture.

Exhibition Open Exclusively: Komposition med stol - Sanna Håkans
Sanna Håkans - Komposition med stol
Exhibition number two (with artist Sanna Håkans) out of six exhibitions and two performances, under the same premise / title "Komposition med stol" ("Composition with chair"), where each artist makes his/her unique interpretation. The chair is one of the most fundamental objects in our environment. It carries meanings such as rest and activity, authority and subservience, absence and presence, belonging and exclusion, and is at the same time loaded with art historical and theatrical references.
In 2026, StudyForArtPlatform presents six artists who will each make an exhibition where a chair is located in the room in different ways. The chair will thus function as a constant and common starting point for interpretation, movement and position; something that will both unite and distinguish the participating artists.
Guided Exhibition - Me You We
During Stockholm Art Week, The Cell presents a series of public events connected to Me You We – Exploring Human Behaviour. On 23 January at 16:30, we offer a guided introduction to the exhibition, followed by open weekend tours on 25–26 January, inviting visitors to explore the artistic and scientific perspectives on human behaviour.
Growing polarization, a planet in crisis, and societies in flux – how did we get here? And how do we move forward? Me You We – Exploring Human Behaviour examines what shapes our actions – from biology to culture and social structures. Through art, science, and in-depth perspectives, we shed light on what is most human: our behaviors, our choices – and our capacity for change.
https://thecell.se/en/me-you-we-human-behaviour/
The Cell is a space where contemporary art meets life science. Through exhibitions and public programmes, artists and researchers explore urgent questions about the human condition in a time shaped by rapid scientific and technological change. The current exhibition series, Me You We – Exploring Human Behaviour, examines mental health, identity, and human relationships. Across three chapters, it moves from the individual to the encounter with others and the collective systems that influence how we think, feel, and act. The Cell is a collaboration between Tekniska museet and Karolinska Institutet, located in Hagastaden.

Artist present: Paula Tove Alderin on SHED / Horizons of Rawness
Paula Tove Alderin
Paula Tove Alderin is a multidisciplinary artist whose work engages with the dual nature of becoming and destruction, operating in the threshold between language, matter, and embodied experience. Drawing on experiences of the body, rawness, and beauty, she explores fleeting states of transition in both space and thought in Shed – Horizons of Rawness, her first exhibition at the gallery.
Beyond the horizon, the familiar dissolves and something else begins: an in-between space where the raw, the unprocessed, and the unformed start to take shape. Here, formless potential encounters direct, unfiltered experience—a state of chaos, wildness, and possibility where the ephemeral leaves traces. The exhibition interweaves existential experience with the global upheavals of our time, approaching rawness as an unstable interval in which matter, form, and meaning both emerge and dissolve. Through a practice that brings together visual art and performative actions, Alderin explores the liminal and the transient, processes of becoming and destruction, and how these questions also carry political dimensions. Her works move between restrained and expressive gestures within expanded painting, sculpture, collage, light, and site-specific installations.
Artist present: 'Unmarked Space' a solo exhibition by Sofi Żezmer
Sofi Żezmer "Unmarked Space"
Sofi Żezmer examines how language and visible signs create meaning and shape our orientation in the world. The act of marking or naming defines what something is, how it is read and valued, and by whom. At the same time, it establishes belonging while also excluding. Unmarked Space refers to zones that resist fixed definitions and open up a field of possibilities where meaning has not yet been determined.
Żezmer’s work moves between abstraction and possible narrative interpretations. Through sculptures, installations, photographs and collage works on paper, she explores how shifting attention transforms information into new forms, often revealing the absurd and the surreal within everyday structures.
Sofi Żezmer (b. 1959, Łódź, Poland) studied in New York and has been based in Wiesbaden, Germany, since 1995. Her work has been presented internationally, including in Poznań, Warsaw, Malmö, Frankfurt am Main, Venice, Amsterdam, New York, San Francisco and Kanazawa.Candyland is a non-profit exhibition space run by nine people who take turns in inviting artists to exhibit. Candyland is located in south east Södermalm, a part of Stockholm where most of the artists’ initiatives in the city are located. Candyland was founded in February 2004.

Market Art Talk: Take-over by the Artbystander - New Roles, New Circulation
Marti Manen (CuratorLab / Konstfack), Destinee Ross-Sutton (Ross-Sutton Gallery), Lauren Johnson (Lucky Strike)
Artists, curators and galleries in a multi-platform art world
Participants: Matti Hoffner, Destinee Ross-Sutton, Vilda Krog, Kim Andreas Roland Berger, Lauren Johnson & Marti Manen
The first conversation looks at how artists, curators and gallerists are working in a landscape shaped by digital platforms, new forms of visibility and increasingly international networks.
Today an artwork often circulates through studio images, installation views, social media, newsletters, press coverage, fair previews and private channels before it is encountered in person. This changes not only how art is presented, but how careers develop, how attention is built and how value is mediated.
The discussion asks what is genuinely new in this system, what is simply newly visible, and which older forms of support, expertise and mediation still remain essential.
Market Art Talk: Take-over by the Artbystander - The New Contract

Participants: Eric Haeger, Richard Julin, Buqaqawuli Nobakada, Gabriel Shelsky, Jacob Barnes, Gard Eiklid
Hybrid business models, collectors and the future ecosystem
The second conversation turns to the broader structures supporting the art world.
As circulation changes, so do the economic and relational frameworks around art. Galleries increasingly combine exhibitions, fairs, advisory, private sales, editions, content, partnerships and events. Artists build mixed economies across sales, commissions, teaching and collaborations. Institutions and curatorial platforms are also rethinking how they create value, support experimentation and build long-term publics.
This discussion asks what happens when the art world reorganises itself across more actors and platforms. How is trust maintained? Which forms of labour remain invisible? And what kinds of new support structures are needed if experimentation is to survive?

The exchange year in Paris was total submission under consent. A role-play of trying to fit in, paired with the quiet punishment of being unable to pronounce the names of French breads, forming a delicate sensory play in our mouths. Bread is called pain in French, and the year bound us into a subtle power game.

Market Art Fair Artist Talk: Fredrik Værslev in conversation with Benjamin Godsill
Market Art Fair 2025. Jean Lapin.
Norwegian artist Fredrik Vaerslev is one of the most prolific artists in the discussion of contemporary painting today. His work explores painting through repetition, everyday materials, and references to architecture and design, challenging traditional ideas about what painting can be. Over the past decade, his work has been exhibited widely in museums and galleries internationally and at Market Art Fair he is presented by both Carl Kostyál and Arnstedt Östra Karup. Here we will hear directly from Fredrik about his work, process, and current projects in a conversation with the New-York based curator Benjamin Godsill.

How can design in public space invite us to speak up?
Studio PANK is hosting a workshop at Sergels Torg exploring shapeshifting public spaces, temporary installations, and the role of our own voices in the city. Through guided conversations and practical design exercises, participants will design and collectively build their own soapboxes. These simple raised wooden platforms have historically been used for public speaking, freedom of expression, and participation.
Come share your thoughts and take part in shaping the open space of the TRIBUN installation. The workshop is free and open to the public. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Limited Exhibition: Nikhil Vettukattil, 'Speculation'
Speculation stages a set of references around the afterlife of bohemianism, artistic precarity, and the conversion of images into assets. Van Gogh's bedroom has become both an image of artistic life and an object of speculation. The 'Yellow House' at Arles (shown here in a sparse monochrome) was a failed attempt to create a communal living situation for artists de-centered from the Parisian sphere of influence. Strindberg's The Red Room, canonised as a foundational text in Scandinavian modernism, satirises the hypocrisy of Stockholm society from a bohemian perspective.
As the protagonist moves through the social strata of Stockholm he finds himself outside the gallery in Vita Bergen, then housing a destitute family on the outskirts of Stockholm. For reasons at once geographical, political, racial and historical, Stockholm is one of the most segregated cities in the Nordic region. Södermalm, no longer at the edges of the city, but a center for the new creative middle class and entrepreneurs, remnants of its history are used to flavour menus, boutiques, and rental prices. Together with an image of the building in 1910, the works point to the way signs of modest life and artistic marginality are reproduced long after the material conditions they refer to have been incorporated into property, social and cultural capital. The work Burn Rate consists of a number of détourned paintings found in second hand stores in the vicinity of the gallery, presented as a 19th century salon hang, where the pictorial horizon, now ominously orange, is used to center the visual field. In today's Södermalm, Speculation reflects on how these images continue to circulate as atmospheres, narratives and assets. Materials treated not as singular artworks than as elements in a situation. They move between painting, photography, literature, display, to an expanded concept of site."

Exhibition Open Exclusively: Komposition med stol - Sanna Håkans

6 - 6.45 PM. PANEL TALK. What the hell just happened?
Participants: Blackwater Polytechnic, Ben Coode-Adams and others (UK)
The Blackwater Polytechnic poses a question that truly suits our times: What the hell just happened? In a year that has felt like a decade, artists and collectives have watched the ground shift beneath their feet—socially, politically, and environmentally. The assumptions we carried into Supermarket 2025 already seem antique, like artefacts from another reality. From Blackwater’s corner of coastal Essex, we have seen how making, organising, and imagining have evolved in response: collaboration has become survival; improvisation, a way of thinking. This talk will trace those changes—how our ideas, communities, and art practices have been recalibrated by the shockwaves of a world still reconfiguring itself. Tell us about your experience and share strategies for resilience, organisationally and personally.
