The Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation (PREKS) was founded in 2019 at the initiative of the Crown Princess Couple with the mission to promote cultural activities in Sweden. The initial focus has been on the development of a permanent sculpture park at Royal Djurgården, as well as to offer educational programmes to make contemporary art accessible.
During Stockholm Art Week, the Princess Estelle Sculpture Park is open to the public, and includes the first five permanent artworks by Alice Aycock, Elmgreen & Dragset, Yinka Shonibare CBE, Charlotte Gyllenhammar and Giuseppe Penone. The artist of the year 2025 is Monika Sosnowska, and her new installation, Museum, will be inaugurated on 3 June by H.R.H. Prince Daniel, amongst others.
During Stockholm Art Week, the sculpture park will stay open as usual and PREKS Executive Director, Sara Sandström will host a talk at Market Art Fair together with PREKS Communications Manager Sylvia Rynell, with the overall topic of how past and present meed in this year’s sculpture.
