Amine Habki, installation view from Weaving, Stitching, Painting, 2023
Founded in Stockholm in 1991, Andréhn-Schiptjenko was one of the first galleries in Sweden with an international roster, serving as a catalyst for a new generation of contemporary art spaces in Scandinavia. Since its inception the gallery has been committed to the long-term representation of emerging and established contemporary artists working with painting, sculpture, photography, film and digital media as well as installation-based and site-specific work. With the opening of its second space in 2019, Andréhn-Schiptjenko is today based in both Stockholm and Paris.
Artist talk with Amine Habki at Konstnärshuset
Andréhn-Schiptjenko and Konstnärshuset invites you to a talk between Amine Habki and Ashik Zaman, in connection to Habki’s presentation at Market Art Fair. The talk will be held at the Lounge at Konstnärshuset on Tuesday, May 13th at 18:00.
Inspired by his Franco-Moroccan heritage, Amine Habki (b. 2000, France) reimagines traditional notions and representations of masculinity using embroidery and repurposed objects. Each of Habki’s works reveals a micro-narrative intimately tied to his search for identity and exploration of desire. While not autobiographical, his creations feature alter-egos that depersonalize and universalize themes, giving voice to the marginalized and the unseen.
Habki’s work has already been awarded several prestigious awards and in 2024 he presented a solo exhibition at Centre Pompidou-Metz. In November, Habki will have his first solo exhibition with Andréhn-Schiptjenko in Stockholm.
This spring, his works have been presented in a group exhibition at Mennour in Paris, as part of the Mennour Institute’s jury-selected program committed to supporting young artists.
