Paper Fashion Art Performance

The Cultural Center of Kungsholmen is a citizen-driven initiative supported by the Stockholm City Cultural Administration and the Kungsholmen District Council. The center provides a new vibrant cultural meeting place. During Stockholm Art Week, eleven artists from Lidingö and four artists from Kungsholmen jointly presents an exhibition showcasing art in all shapes and forms. Hence the name of this exhibition - “Lidingö on Kungsholmen” – art inspired by the beauty of these islands.

We need to rest in the darkness of the night and draw energy from the daylight. The soothing darkness, undisturbed by destructive forces, serves as the foundation for the life-giving light. This theme is reflected in the music and lyrics performed, inspired by Erik Blomberg's poem "Do not be afraid of the darkness, for the light rests there," with music composed by Karin Rehnqvist. The singers, alternating between full choir, men's voices, and women's voices, move throughout the art exhibition in light mantels over black clothing. The light contains the entire color spectrum, which is reflected in the colors of the mantles.The colors and titles of the mantles are linked to chakra philosophy, with specific energies and colors placed at different positions in the body. The choir singer's vocal range corresponds to the position of the chakra that the singer's mantle symbolizes. The person with the lowest voice part wears the mantle representing the lowest chakra. These mantles symbolize good values and serve as shields against a lack of imagination. The concept of good values spans the entire philosophical history of humanity, from Confucius and Aristotle to the present day. It represents a shared foundation of values that is meant to grow in luminous strength.
