Exhibition Opening: Cameraitalia - Hypersea by Claudia Amatruda

  • Italienska Kulturinstitutet 14 Gärdesgatan Stockholm, Stockholms län, 115 27 Sweden (map)

The Italian Cultural Institute in Stockholm is a body of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs whose mission is to promote Italian culture in Sweden and to foster cultural dialogue between the two countries. To this end, every year the Institute organises events in various fields: concerts, film screenings, lectures and seminars, as well as exhibitions and shows of various kinds. With rare exceptions, all events are free and open to the public. The Institute cooperates with other institutes, universities, museums, academies of fine arts, music schools and conservatories, art galleries, as well as with the press, radio and television in both Sweden and Italy.

The photo exhibition "Cameraitalia - Hypersea" by Claudia Amatruda is the result of an art residency at the Institute. Amatruda works on the relationship between the body and natural space. Her perspective interprets disability as a starting point for the transformation of the body in a post-human key. Inspired by water and the city’s museums, the exhibition will transform the spaces of the Institute, engaging with its iconic Gio Ponti’s architecture and furnishings. During the evening, Amatruda will be in conversation with Caroline Elgh about her work and artistic research.
