In conjunction with Jockum Nordström's exhibition Spring is in Winter, which theme emanates from the artist's lifelong love for football, Konsthall 16 invites you to an artist talk with the exhibition as a starting point. Magnus Hagström, sports journalist and editor, talks with Jockum Nordström in his exhibition in Konsthall 16, National Sports Museum.

Tuesday May 21. 17.00. Jockum Nordström’s exhibition in Konsthall 16, Riksidrottsmuseum, is open from 16.30. Konsthall 16, Riksidrottsmuseum, Djurgårdsbrunnsvägen 26, Gärdet. (Bus 69 to ”Sjöhistoriska museet”). Free entrance. Limited number of seats.

Spring is in Winter revolves around football and presents works by Jockum Nordström. The works in the exhibition span almost 30 years, from the early 1990s to 2019, and most of them have rarely or never been shown. The title of the exhibition is borrowed from a work specially made for Tore A Jonasson's collection, a woven rug whose motif is based on an abstraction of his earliest experiences with football, not only the ball itself but also memories of washed-out shirts and gravel pitches. The fact that the theme, both for the rug and this exhibition, was football emanates from Nordström's lifelong love for the sport. Among the highlights are, in addition to the woven floss, drawings, collages, paintings, an early mobile and The Arena, from 1992, a large model of a football stadium of the old kind, where his familiar figures have taken their place on the playing field. Opening Hours during Stockholm Art Week: The exhibition is open Tuesday – Sunday 11 – 16 and runs until May 17th.

Konsthall 16 is a non-commercial art gallery. It’s the result of a collaboration between Tore A Jonasson’s foundation and Riksidrottsmuseum (the National Sports Museum). The purpose of the foundation is to present temporary exhibitions of contemporary art, to show selected works from the collection and to annually acquire sports-related art and award a number of grants to artists and sports practitioners.
