One Day at Kummelholmen #14

  • Kummelholmen 120 Vårholmsbackarna Skärholmen, Stockholms län, 127 44 Sweden (map)

The respective practices of Jenny Magnusson and Patrik Elgström come together in the duo SKYMMER OCH SER (Obstructing and Seeing). Photography and sculpture meet in different spatialities in which the possibility of thinking in terms of space and making decisions together are investigated, guided by the materiality, the architecture, the limited format—space, time, and context. The photograph, with its format, flatness, cavity, and past tense. The sculpture, with its immediate materiality and presence. Archive and reuse are central to both practices—as a way of connecting with context, architecture, and existing materialities. Jenny works with site-specific sculpture and Patrik with photography, and for several years they have collaborated artistically through projects, teaching and exhibitions.

With a startingpoint in Jenny Magnusson's sculpture The unmoved mover ( a title taken from a concept advanced by Aristotle as a primary cause, or first uncaused cause) they engage with the spaces and cavities of Kummelholmen through photography, sculpture, movement and sound.

For this occasion, the duo invites sound artist Elize Arvefjord and choreographer Anna Öberg to activate the exhibition twice during the evening (17:00 and 19:00). Elize Arvefjord will explore the sonic aspects of the sculpture The Unmoved mover, and together with Anna Öberg investigate its inherent swing and rhythmic qualities.

Note: Tuesday 21 April, 15:00–20:00
Activation of the space at 17:00 and 19:00.
