Presentation of exhibition: ‘Cartographies of images in exile’, Konsthallen ABC

Konsthallen ABC and Artbug arrange a presentation of the exhibition ‘Cartographies of images in exile’, and present the wider aspects of the exchange programme ScandiLA.

Artbug Gallery (Los Angeles) and Konsthallen ABC (Stockholm) join forces with project ScandiLA, an international exchange program for artist run galleries. On 6 May the first part in this mutual exhibitions exchange between these two galleries will open. This premiere will take place at Konsthallen ABC on May 6, from 12 to 6 pm.
Under the curatorship of Xaus Kahal (Mexico), the upcoming special exhibition “Cartographies of Images in Exile” brings together a selection of six artist-painters of different nationalities whose trajectories and aesthetic perspectives are traced, in one way or another, by their migratory transit and questions about the place from the origin, present and destiny.
Gago Gagik (Armenia-Argentina-United States) Chicome Itzcuintli Amatlapalli (United States-Mexico), María Rendón (Mexico-United States), David Serrano (Mexico-United States), Atilio Pernisco (Argentina-United States), Daniela García (United States-Mexico).
From the perspectives of the artists mentioned above, their work is a path of reconnection, compensation, and recognition of a human identity to which one aspires as part of a work that dignifies the value of human relationships. As it is impossible to represent what we see in the absence of a pictorial language, the works here exhibited are “speculative images that support a world”. The works of art presented could be seen as fragmented maps, infused with codes and signs capable of narrowing the borders of otherness and bringing closer the distances between language, people, and things themselves. Thus, coupling apparently distant worlds into new realities.

About Konsthallen ABC
Konsthallen ABC started in March 2021. We show exhibitions by international and Swedish artists, as well as members of the studio house. We also host poetry readings, music evenings and artists’ talks as a part of our exhibitions programme. Konsthallen ABC is part of Studio ABC which is a non-profit and artist-run association with about 40 studios in Vällingby, Stockholm.
